

Welcome to the Manchester Doctoral College
The University of Manchester has over three and a half thousand doctoral students and offers a
wide portfolio of research programmes
. The Manchester Doctoral College (MDC) is the body which oversees all doctoral training and researcher development within the University.
Professor Matt Lambon Ralph, Vice President for Research (Graduate Education), is Director of the MDC and has overall responsibility for the graduate education portfolio at the University.
The President's Doctoral Scholar Award Launched
This flagship funding scheme, which is strongly supported by the University's President and Vice Chancellor, will offer over 100 elite studentships each year to outstanding national and international doctoral students. Applications for funding are now open.
BBSRC Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) Studentships
The BBSRC are in the process of establishing 10 - 15 Doctoral Training Partnerships across the UK to provide PhD training in areas of strategic relevance to the BBSRC. The University of Manchester has submitted a bid for DTP status and we anticipate appointing around 25 - 40 PhD students to start in September 2012. Applications are now open for the 2012 studentships.
Launch of the MDC and Researcher Development Space
From September 2011, the Manchester Doctoral College will be launching its own dedicated teaching and mentoring space. This suite of rooms in the Roscoe Building will be available for Centres for Doctoral Training and Faculty Skills Trainers to provide taught doctoral courses.
